1.

What size cake will I need?

There are many different designs, sizes, and layering options for cakes.  Below are the standard guidelines that are typically used to estimate a wedding reception serving size of cake, which tends to be a 1" x 2" slice of cake. Sizes of slices may vary according to your needs, so please use this only as a guideline. When discussing cake needs, changing the size after more information is gathered is simple.

My pricing of cakes starts at approximately $4.50 a slice for a simple buttercream cake and $5.75 a slice for fondant. Depending on the complexity of design, construction and decoration, your price per slice may differ.

3.

Is delivery available?

Yes! If local within Fort Mill, there is no charge. Outside of the delivery area, there is a minimal fee depending on the distance to the delivery point.

4.

How much advance notice is needed?

It seems that friends and family have a lot of demand lately and lots of events that they want a cake for!  Contact Sarah at Sweet Scene at least 2-3 weeks in advance - 4 weeks is even better.

5.

Are you a Legal business in South Carolina?

Yes, it's a strange question, but it does come up!  In the summer of 2012, the South Carolina governor signed the SC Cottage Food Law (www.sccottagefoodlaw.com) and this allowed at home bakers in the state to legally operate a home-based baking business.  Before the law was passed, advertising was not allowed and "customers" were limited to Friends and Family.  Per the Cottage Food Law, i follow safe food handling practices, labeling standards, and can now advertise.  I do have my LLC and have a SC Food Retail License.  this allows my cakes to go anywhere we need them to -  legally.

7.

Can i order Cake Pops or Cupcakes?

Essentially, i do not do orders that are only Cake Pops or Cupcakes.  If there is a larger cake included in the order, and cake pops or cupcakes are an accent element, then these can be worked in.  If you wish to order just cupcakes or Cake Pops, i can provide some names of bakeries that specialize in this cake art.
